Erica was introduced to yoga at the age of 9 when her mother would wake up to do an early morning yoga class and aerobics class that was aired on the local arts channel. She continued to study yoga off and on throughout the years, but began to focus more on the art of dance in her teenage years.

After graduating from high school, Erica traveled to Habana, Cuba to study modern and folkloric dance with The National Modern Dance Company of Cuba. Upon her return to the United States, Erica relocated to New York City to pursue a career in the performing arts. She has performed with well noted choreographers and shows including: Rennie Harris' Facing Mekka, River Deep: A Tribute to Tina Turner, Fifa World Cup, Rod Rodgers Dance Company, Earl Mosley and the off- Broadway hit Six Months To Live.

Erica continues to expand her love of dance and now focuses on utilzing her skills as a choreographer. Drawing from her diverse background of Cuban dance, hip hop, jazz and martial arts her choreography is an interesting fuse of raw dynamism.She was recently asked to choreograph a segment on Law and Order:SVU. Erica has also appeared on Law and Order:SVU and Criminal Intent. In a continuing effort to evolve her artistry Erica is currently studying aerial silk tissu/rope and sitar.

Erica was introduced to yoga at the age of nine because her mother would practice aerobics and yoga in the morning from a television series. She began reading books about yoga philosophy and later began to study the physical aspect of yoga. Her first teacher training took place with Bery Bender Birch and the late Thom Birch. She considers that her introduction to the vitality of asana practice. Soon after her teacher training Erica began teaching yoga classes. But an incident in her own practice made her stop and evaluate the true nature of a teacher and the power of yoga. This evaluation made her realize the importance of in depth study of all aspects of yoga for the sincere teacher.

Soon after this evaluation Erica met her teachers, Aadil and Mirra Palkhivala.Erica is a  graduate of the 2,000 hour Purna Yoga teacher training of the College of Purna Yoga. She also holds a degree with a concentration in Wellness Studies.In addition, Erica is a certified thai yoga therapist. She received her training from Kam Thye Chow, director of the Lotus Palm School. Because of her remarkable understanding of how to combine yoga and acupressure she was asked to be the on site thai yoga therapist for Jim Jarmusch's film, Broken Flowers. Her past clients include Bill Murray, Sharon Stone and Geoffery Wright. 

Recently, Erica relocated to California after her work as co-director of East West Yoga in Manhattan. She continues to teach workshops and classes as well as act as a consultant for wellness programming for small and medium sized corporations. When she is not teaching, Erica can be seen dancing,choreographing or practicing aerial acrobatics. She devotes her life to living and being the words of Sri Aurobindo,"All life is yoga."
